Here is a Lionel 18464 O Postwar Celebration Series Ballast Tamper Car #54.
It is part of the Postwar Celebration Series, the original #54 Ballast Tamper first handled Maintenance of Way duties on O gauge railroads of the 1950s and 1960s. This self-propelled unit cruises at normal speed to a trouble spot on your line. A track actuator triggers the unit slowing its speed while the six tampers pop up and down. A second track actuator halts the tamping action and restores the car to normal speed.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. This item appears to have been run sparingly, and displays overall signs of light previous use. There are various spots of discoloration on the chassis. The original paint is in great shape, and the rest of the unit displays a like-new overall finish. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. The instruction manual is included.
